A Questmas Story


What was my first thoughts on A Questmas Story?

My first thoughts on finding out that my class would be performing A Questmas Story, I was that happy at first. This was because we wrote this play ourselves with gave us a special connection to the play. It also motivated us to put in our full effort and dedication to pull off an amazing performance.
Already having knowledge of the play due to having my input in the script. I knew about the areas of the play that would need to be researched such as, the Victorian era and World War 1. I was enthusiastic  about the scenes in World War I having done History for GCSEs.


What is A Questmas Story about? 

Five teenagers and a dog go on a crazy mission to defeat “the evil” and bring back Christmas. They live in a strange town where Christmas is banned and no one knows why 4 pairs of parents still celebrate it and get captured. Their children proceed to try and save them and end up finding this magical, enchanted book which they get sucked into and take them back in time to help them figure out what happened as to why Christmas is banned. First they end up in the Victorian era and they meet Charles Dickens. This is where they realise that they are back in time. Then they end up in World War 1 and start up the famous WW1 football game. Then they find out why Christmas is banned and defeat “the evil” and save the day.

What are the themes of A Questmas Story?

The dominant theme in A Questmas story is adventure, a theme adventure is the heart of the play. A Questmas Story is regulated by the adventure and love. The theme love is why the characters go after their parents. The love they have for their parents make them worried enough to go and try to save them from the government guards who captured them for celebrating Christmas. The theme of adventure leads them to do and experience crazy things .

How many times we perform and how? 

We will perform four times within two days. One in the afternoon to perform to our fellow peers. Then in the evening for parents and friends to come and see and again the next day.
We will have the tech students help us with the lighting control for the performance. We will have a tech day so that can know their cues by our lines. This helps us make the performance more professional so that we can perform to our best ability. Our performance is also filmed for grading purposes along with all the coursework and the units to go along with it.


What costume will I wear for Jordan?
 I will wear a school blazer. I will also bring in a school blazer in for the rest of the cast that are playing one of the other 4 teens.I will wear a school shirt and a grey tie, along with a black pleated school skirt with black tights and black boots.

Love and Information: Context

What is Love and Information about? Love and information is a play that is split into seven sections, within these sections you have a bunch of scenes that can be rearranged which ever way the director wants. As long as it’s still in the same section. This is the director creative diverse. What do the seven sections mean? The sections mean the sections most important time periods in her life. This is what it represents. This is why you can’t change the order of the seven sections.  The play asks us to consider how meaning is constructed and to participate in the process. The script has few stage directions, the characters are not gendered, the scenes can appear in a different order, and there are some random scenes which can be inserted anywhere in the play.
